Nigerian Medical Mission

Many of us take for granted a trip to the doctor or a routine medical check-up.  For villagers in rural Nigeria who sometimes live miles from a large town or even a paved road, this may be nearly impossible.  So CBN recently held a 5-day medical mission in 5 neighboring villages in north eastern Nigeria. A total of 3,963 villagers were treated during the medical mission. Out of this number, 12 received general surgeries. 350 of them also received free reading glasses. A woman was delivered of a set of twins by the team of Doctors in the course of the program.  During the outreach, 212 people prayed to receive Christ for the first time.

Scripture: Matthew 25: 34-40 (NKJV)

34 ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

  1. Over the years, I’ve given to various mission organizations reaching out to Haiti, Sudan, Malawi, etc. Once in a while, I would wonder why is it that none of these organizations ever went to my home country Nigeria? Sometimes, that almost made me feel resentful but I would remind myself that it is the Lord’s vineyard, no matter the location.

Now I feel better that someone remembered my country! Thank you CBN and I pray abundant blessings on that team that went to Nigeria.
