In Memory of Edith Hawkins

Created by: Troy Van Marter

Grandma Hawkins will be missed as she was always praying for our family and reminding us of God’s promises.  She was bold for the Lord, willing to share the Gospel with anyone she could, even going as far as answering her phone, “Praise the Lord”.  She volunteered in her community, was active in her church, and supported several Christian ministries.

Of course, our family has much to be thankful for as the scriptures teach us those who have died in the Lord are with Christ.  Though we will miss her, we do not mourn as others who have no hope because the authoritative Word of God promises the believer an immediate reception in glory--"absent from the body, present with the Lord.  II Corinthians 5:8"

Her soul, which is now in the presence of the Lord, is free from her broken, worn out body, which will rest in the grave.  I thank God that Grandma Hawkins knew Jesus Christ as her Savior from sin.   It was this faith that sustained her through the trials of illness that she so bravely faced.  Because Grandma Hawkins had trusted Jesus Christ to be her Savior from sin, on the authority of God's Holy Word, I can say that her soul is now with Jesus in glory.  Her body will one day be resurrected.  We'll be reunited with her and other family members and spend eternity together with the Lord.
