I believe that open, honest, straightforward dialog is the only way for people with siginificantly different views to begin to understand each other. (even if they never come to agree.) 

In the interest of healthy debate, I'm establishing this group as a place where people can discuss the central idea of most religions, the existence of God, and why you believe there is one, and why I don't.

I want to ask questions that will challenge your dogma, dispute many of your most deeply held beliefs.  At the same time, I hope to answer what questions I can, and hopefully dispel some of the many misconceptions people seem to have about those of us who just can't believe the stories that most of you seem to accept so readily. 

I've had some interesting converstations with people since I started coming here, but I've also become frustrated with the disrespectful and dishonorable way that some group owners treat people.  Increasingly, whenever I make a point that's difficult to refute, or uncomfortable to think about because it challenges a strongly held belief, instead of replying to it and furthering the conversation, they will simply delete my post.  I have had entire threads simply vanish in middle of a conversation!

I give you my word that I will not delete other people's posts, and kindly request that the admins us a little leeway here.  Personal attacks are absolutely indefensible, but to allow yourself to be 'offended' simply because you disagree with someone is equally so.
