Greg’s Great Race Has Been Won!

Nearly a year in the making, the proof has finally arrived, and boy, are they happy! Listen to the head of the MICS school and orphanage:

June 2010

Early this morning teachers arrived and secretly decorated the truck with streamers and balloons (-:

From singing and praising "Yahweh" in the chapel to thanking God with their prayers in a circle outside ......
It was a wonderful celebration!!!!

The staff presented a traditional dance they do when someone does something difficult and it turns out well.....It shows they are fit and strong.  It was saying how great it was to have this vehicle after a long time and how hard everyone worked to get it here..... and for that they were very thankful and happy!!! A big thanks to all of you!!!

Later in the day the fourth and fifth graders went to the Macha Dam for a picnic and rock skipping contest......
The very first field trip in the new vehicle!!! Each class will go the dam in the new vehicle this week..... one class per day

To all of you who have helped make this happen, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

Terry Meeuwsen

Orphan’s Promise

Thanks for helping us raise $20,000 for these children. In the coming weeks, we will post a picture of the truck!

From September 8 through October 8, Orphan's Promise joined Greg Krause for “Greg’s Great Race”.  We followed Greg through 24 cities, and over 55,000 miles on his quest to raise funds for his family’s mission home in Zambia, Africa. The goal was to raise $20k for the purchase of a vehicle to help support the school and boarding home.

The school is 2 hours from the nearest paved road – and the paved roads in Zambia are far different from the paved roads in the U.S.! This vehicle is desperately needed to help care for the children here.Help children in Zambia get to school safely

In addition to a school the Krause family began 4 years ago, Orphan’s Promise has come alongside to help with a boarding home for orphaned and abandoned children. We sponsored this trip for Greg and asked you to join us as he blogged daily about his Great Adventure!

The school is not supported by any outside government or corporate organizations. They rely solely on the hard work and donations of many individuals to help these needy children in Zambia. Greg has dedicated himself to this worthy cause, thank you for coming along and being a part of Greg’s Great Race and helping some very needy kids at the same time!
