Thank you, thank you, thank you for having the courage to present this truth telling booklet on Islam. I worked in Dearborn, MI which has the highest muslim population in the U.S. for 20 years and knew their culture very well. God Bless You.

Interesting lengthy comments from Guppy and Alwest; however, I believe this booklet not because who or who may not have written it but because Islam's actions toward us! Heavens you don't need a small book to know these people hate the west and Christians. Turn on your TV or read a bio book. But I agree, pray for the world and the lost

I am a former muslim and I have studied quran/islam/mohamad for 14 years. It is so demonic that there is nothing to understand about is. I just have to say two things number one is that pray for muslims so that they could out of the darkness. The second is that we should stand firm and on guard to protect our believes and laws in the west and make sure that we do not let sharia creep in our land. The only best way to save muslims is that give them only two choices either live in the west to abide by the system, society, values and the Laws (means no exceptions for the benefit of islam) or they can leave and live in the best Islamic society/country they left to live a different/better life. I believe that If you put all muslims together in Islamic countries half of them will kill each other in first 20 years. You can see the killing happening in Africa, Pakistan, Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Somalia and the list goes on….. The interesting part is that in all the fights and the wars in last 50 years, you will find either one muslim country fighting with the other non-muslin country, both muslim countries are fighting amongst themselves or a civil war within a muslim country. This led me to leave islam because never preached or practiced peace. If muslims are talking about peace it is just a deception (Takiah as muhamad practiced before he died). Islamic violence is backed up by quran and hadiath.

Mispelled word...should be Quran, can't edit?

CW Apr 24, 2014 at 10:42 pm Flag as inappropriate

Regarding the first two comments. It says in the Koran it is ok to lie to a non-muslim. Therefore how do you know if your sources are telling the truth?

Let's examine the ways in which this "fact sheet" is deliberately misleading anti-Islamic propaganda... To begin with, Muhammad and the early muslims did not force either Jews or Christians to convert to Islam on pain of death. "Jihad" refers to both the internal spiritual struggle to follow the path of God and the outward struggle (sometimes military in nature) to defend the weak and uphold justice and protect muslims from persecution. This is not different from the Christian concept of a just war, and certainly not different from the concept of a crusade.

Secondly, the "fact sheet" declares that Muhammad changed the disposition of Islam from a peaceful religion to a war-like one when he "ordered" the execution of the Jewish Banu Qurayza arabic tribe of Medina. In fact, Muhammad had formed a strategic alliance with the Banu Qurayza against a besieging army comprised of Muhammad's own tribe from Mecca, plus another influential Jewish tribe from Medina. The Banu Quarayza did forsake their alliance with Muhammad and his militia when the Banu Quarayza thought the battle was turning against them. After Muhammad and his militia defeated the besiegers, Muhammad left the fate of the Banu Quarayza to his lieutenant, who interpreted Jewish law as requiring the death of the betrayers. We can find examples of similar treatment of defeated armies in the Old Testament. That is not to excuse the executions of some number of Banu Qurayza tribesmen (it is questionable whether 700 were actually killed), but it does not represent a wholesale departure from Judaism... so, if you are going to produce a pamphlet declaring Islam to be a religion of war on this basis, you had better be prepared to draw one up for Judaism, as well (not to mention Christianity, for its similar military excesses in the Middle Ages).

The "fact sheet" belittles 7th century Islamic Arabia as "stuck in time," while never clearing the record that 8th and 9th century Arabia saw a flowering of the arts and sciences (in part, thanks to some excellent translation of classical Greek philosophical works) that was equivalent to the Renaissance and Enlightenment rolled into one, all while Europe was stuck in squalor and superstition, violence, and no civil liberties. In fact, without the Caliphate of the 800s and 900s, there would be *no* European Renaissance and Enlightenment, because many of the subjects that would inform those movements had to be translated back into Latin from Arabic.

Another propagandist slander this "fact sheet" commits is to suggest that Muhammad himself was a lecherous paedophile with an uncontrollable lust for 6-year-olds. It is actually highly unlikely that Aisha, Muhammad's second wife, was 6 when she was betrothed, considering that she had already been married once, and considering that Islamic law held that both man and woman must consent to marriage (not something that Christians were doing, at the time). Furthermore, Islamic law held that a person must be an "adult" (i.e. they must have entered puberty) to be eligible for marriage. Since Arabs did not, at that time, keep birth records, there is a large range of uncertainty as to how old Aisha actually was when the marriage was consummated, and some modern scholars suggest she may have been as old as 19. Regardless, stories and written records indicate that Muhammad and Aisha had a very respectful, devoted, and loving marriage, with equal power between them, Aisha at times governing the Islamic tribes in Muhammad's stead, and after Muhammad's death, Aisha went on to become a renowned Islamic scholar. There are no parallels for her social accomplishment as a woman (that we know of) in 6th and 7th century Christian Europe.

Finally, the "fact sheet" suggests that the authenticity of Muhammad's religious experience should be questioned because he examined it with skepticism with his first wife. Compare this to the conversion of St. Paul, architect of the early church, who must be taken on his word -- and his word alone -- of his encounter with the Holy Spirit on the road to Damascus. There are no grounds for questioning the epiphany of Muhammad that won't turn around and erode the faith of Christians in their own religious experience. I, as a believer in Christ, call upon Christians to reject this "fact sheet" whole-heartedly.

I read through my copy of "Islam: Religion of Peace or War" today, expecting my knowledge of Islam to be expanded. Unfortunately, this is just a propaganda hit-job publication with virtually no accuracy to its claims. Even a basic historical student of Islam knows that, far from forcing other societies to convert to Islam under the caliphate, the prophet Muhammed himself first aspired to Judaism, and considered the Quran to be Arab-specific revelation to bring those people to God, whereas Jews and Christians already had their holy covenants, and had no need of Islam. The cover image of the pamphlet is pure propaganda, equivalent to showing a soldier wearing a crucifix and asking "Is Christianity a religion of peace?", instead of showing a priest or minister, or average churchgoer. There are millions of muslims who live in peace, are dedicated to peace, and could be pictured. To suggest that the majority of them were celebrating the 9/11 attacks is purely disingenuous. All religions can be hijacked for evil purposes, and construed to support positions that are not explicitly laid out in the holy books, but Islam is, in its essence, an enlightened religion that observes and upholds the divinity in all Creation, and is particularly concerned with the welfare of all, equality, and justice. This pamphlet is a total disservice to a genuine understanding of Islam, and I hope that all true Christians reject its vitriol.
