the gadget he used for the potatoes is called a mandoline. Just be sure to use the guard that comes with it to protect your fingers.

Dear Gordon. My husband and I watch you prepare the Eye of the Round Roast and those Scalloped Potatoes. Our mouths were watering. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to remind my husband that it's okay for him to cook too!! Ha. Ha. In his family the woman did it all. Is there a way to make the scalloped potatoes so that half of the pan has cheese in it and half has cheese with the lactose removed or should the recipe be cut in half with the pans marked accordingly.. Are there ideas for making substitutions for cheese if a family member does not eat cheese?
