I'm new to this web site...any information about alternate treatment for high cholesterol instead of using poisonous statin drugs???? I have an Endocrinologist just licking his chops, anxious to start me on a statin. The very web page for Lipitor has a 'Risk Assessor' to evaluate your risk factor over the next 10 YEARS of developing heart disease. My risk factor was only 3%!!!...yet this doctor reacted as if he was insulted when I said that I didn't want to take statins, and asked about other treatments, like plant sterols, Niacin, diet, exercise...etc. I would just like a statin to be the last resort, not the first resort if at all. Thanks to anyone who can help, and even refer me to a doctor who doesn't believe in trading good cholesterol for developing other health problems.

The Spirulina is, Pure Hawaiian Spirulina by Nutrex. This stuff taste awful. Smell fishy.
Because of its healing properties I take it anyway. I mix the Tsp of Spirulina with a couple of spoons of applesauce and
then drink lots of water to wash it down. I purchased Spirulina many months ago because I purchased the book, Diabetes without Drugs, by Suzy Cohen, RPh. It's a diabetic's, MUST HAVE book!!

cheryl, the Metfomin your taking is a high dosage, and when you take it your sugar might not be that high for you to take all at once. so the metformin probably lowers your sugar to low, then on top your taking to blood pressure pills to lower your pressure so the heart might not be getting enough potassium due to so much fluids leaving your body.
