I watched the flames of Hope

            Burn out

My heart purged in my

            Chest

Tears streamed down my

            Face

As I looked at the pile of

            Ashes

Where my dreams once

            Stood

 

Shocked at the emptiness

            Left behind

I fell down on my

            Knees

And began to weep for what

            I had lost

 

Then I heard a voice behind

            Me

It was warm and full of

            Love

When I heard what it

            Said

A peace filled my

            Heart

 

This voice whispered to me

            “Stand back”

 

So I stood, wiped my

            Tears

And with a tremble of hope,

            Obeyed

As the mist and dust rose and

            Settled

I saw what the hands had done

They worked over the

            Pile of ash

Creating a new and beautiful

            Design

And transform it into a rainbow

 

Then the voice proclaimed

“I am your God!

I am your truth

I am the one who gives life

Cast your burdens upon me

And I shall create you something new”

 

At that I began to weep once

            Again

For I could understand what

            God had done

He had taken my pain and

            Failure

And transformed it into a

            Promise

For a new life

So that I may hope, smile,

And live again.
