Description:

The exact phrase "Christian walk" does not appear in the Bible. nonetheless, the New Testament does explain to Christians how to "walk" in faith. A "walk" is a metaphor for realistic daily living in this context. The Christian life is a journey, and we are to traverse it, making steady growth in our faith.

The Christian walk is characterized by Christlikeness. Christians are adherents of Christ. "Whoever claims to abide in him must walk in the same manner that he walked" (1 John 2:6, ESV). Peter, referring to suffering, said, "To this you were called because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example to follow in his footsteps" (1 Peter 2:21). God the Holy Spirit indwells believers, and He will direct them in the right direction.

The Christian Walk entails morality. The goal of God, according to Romans 8:4, is "that the righteous requirement of the law might be completely met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit." When we walk according to the Spirit, we "will not fulfill the desires of the flesh" (Galatians 5:16). Therefore, the Christian life entails saying no to fleshly desires. The Christian life should be marked by deeds of kindness (Ephesians 2:10).

The Christian walk is marked by obedience. The apostle John taught that we demonstrate our love for God by obeying his commands (2 John 1:6. cf. John 14:15). God's commandments guide us away from the destructive roads and onto the path of life as we move through this world (Psalm 16:11). The Bible, God's Word, is a candle for our feet and a light for our way (Psalm 119:105).

The Christian journey requires faith. For we walk by faith, not by sight, according to 2 Corinthians 5:7. (ESV). This is a fundamental fact for Christians. We focus on unseen realities, such as Jesus and the joys of paradise, in light of eternity. Rather than rely on our own understanding, we live according to what God has revealed to us (Proverbs 3:5&ndash.6).

The Christian walk requires a paradigm shift. "Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do in the folly of your thoughts," Paul wrote (Ephesians 4:17). The Christian's command is "to be recreated in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, made in the image of God in true righteousness and holiness" (Ephesians 4:23&ndash.24).

The Christian walk requires fidelity to the Lord. our character must correspond to His. Ephesians 4:1&ndash.3 mentions some of the resulting qualities: "Walk in a way commensurate with the vocation to which you have been called, with all humility and gently, with patient, bearing with one another in love, eager to preserve the oneness of the Spirit in the bond of peace." In Colossians 1:10&ndash.12, "worthy" conduct is associated with four characteristics:

1) being fruitful in every good work

2) continuously growing in the knowledge of God. 3) employing God's strength to cheerfully suffer and patiently endure. and 4) expressing thanks to the Father.

If you are a Christian desiring a closer relationship with Christ, pray and seek guidance. "Ask and you shall get. seek and you shall find. knock and the door shall be opened to you" (Matthew 7:7). Do not believe that God is "too busy" or has more pressing matters to attend to. When you are God's child, He will always make time for you. "The LORD watches over the way of the righteous," the Bible says (Psalm 1:6).

If you are not yet a Christian, we urge you to pray to God, confessing your sin and placing your faith in the risen Lord Jesus. Start your Christian life with the knowledge that you have eternal life.
